Product details
Abcam's CEACAM1 (BGP) Human ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human CEACAM1 in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant.
This assay employs an antibody specific for Human CEACAM1 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and CEACAM1 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human CEACAM1 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CEACAM1 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.
Optimization may be required with urine samples.

Biological function summary
CEACAM1 influences cellular adhesion and immune responses by mediating cell-cell interactions. It forms homophilic dimers at the cell surface and it can participate in heterophilic interactions with other proteins making it part of complex cell signaling networks. These interactions regulate immune cell functions contributing to innate immune responses and cellular homeostasis. CEACAM1 also modulates angiogenesis endothelial cell permeability and apoptosis.
Pathways
CEACAM1 is involved in signaling and regulatory pathways important for immune surveillance and inflammation. It is a part of the TGF-beta signaling pathway affecting cellular proliferation and differentiation. CEACAM1 interacts with proteins such as SHP-1 and SHP-2 which are essential in modulating immune responses. Additionally CEACAM1 influences the MAPK/ERK pathway which plays a role in cell growth and survival.
