Product details
Human Cystatin SA/CST2 2 ELISA kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of human Cystatin SA/CST2 2 in serum (human Cystatin SA/CST2 2 concentration is low in normal serum/plasma, and may not be detectable in this assay), plasma and cell culture supernatants. This assay employs an antibody specific for human Cystatin SA coated on a 96-well plate.
This ELISA kit shows no cross-reactivity with the following cytokines tested: human ADAMTSL-1/Punctin-1, AMSH/STAMBP, Annexin V, BATF3, Bora, Cadherin-17, Caveolin-2, CD2, CD200 R1, CHST3, COMT, Dopamine beta-Hydroxylase, Desmin,Exostosin-like 3, Ficolin-1, FosB/GOS3, FRS2, GATA-5, GFAP, GLI-3, HepaCAM, ARNT/HIF-1 beta, 17 betaHSD1/HSD17B1, IDO, Kallikrein 1, Kell, MDL-1/CLEC5A, NPDC-1, Numb, Olig2, p63/TP73L, Pax3, Semaphorin 4D, Sphingosine Kinase 1/SPHK1, TAZ/WWTR1, TC-PTP, Transglutaminase 3/TGM3, TPST2, TREML1/TLT-1.

Biological function summary
Cystatin SA plays an important role in maintaining tissue integrity and homeostasis. It is not known to be part of a complex but operates individually to inhibit cysteine proteases like cathepsin B H and L. By controlling the proteolytic activities of these enzymes Cystatin SA helps to prevent excessive tissue breakdown and inflammation which contributes to the preservation of mucosal barriers in the body.
Pathways
Cystatin SA's inhibitory action plays a significant role in proteolysis and inflammation pathways. One important pathway involves cathepsins which are targeted by Cystatin SA to modulate their activity. Another related pathway includes tissue remodeling where Cystatin SA helps regulate protease activities to maintain structural balance. Both these pathways emphasize its interaction with similar cystatins such as Cystatin C in modulating protease activities to protect tissues.
