Interpolated concentrations of native Gelsolin in human serum and plasma samples.

The concentrations of Gelsolin were measured in duplicates, interpolated from the Gelsolin standard curves and corrected for sample dilution. Undiluted samples are as follows : serum 1 : 1000, plasma (citrate) 1 : 1000, plasma (EDTA) 1 : 1000, and plasma (Heparin) 1 : 2000. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean Gelsolin concentration was determined to be 12.54 μg/mL in serum, 18.80 μg/mL in plasma (citrate), 8.41 μg/mL in plasma (EDTA), and 48.98 μg/mL in plasma (Heparin).

How the assay works

Human Gelsolin ELISA Kit, Chemiluminescent (ab326896) SimpleStep Ignite™ ELISA employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step during a 30 min only incubation, significantly reducing assay time. By utilizing a chemiluminscent detection method this improves the sensitivity and dynamic range when compared to traditional colorimetric ELISAs.

Calcium-regulated, actin-modulating protein that binds to the plus (or barbed) ends of actin monomers or filaments, preventing monomer exchange (end-blocking or capping). It can promote the assembly of monomers into filaments (nucleation) as well as sever filaments already formed (PubMed : 19666512). Plays a role in ciliogenesis (PubMed : 20393563).
