Sandwich ELISA - Human Glutathione Peroxidase 1 ELISA Kit (AB315322)
Interpolated concentration of native Glutathione Peroxidase 1 was measured in duplicate at different sample concentrations. Undiluted samples are as follows : THP-1 cell extract 37.5 µg/mL and HeLa cell extract 25 µg/mL. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). Sample dilutions are made in 1X Cell Extraction Buffer PTR.

Product details
Human Glutathione Peroxidase 1 SimpleStep ELISA® kit is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of Glutathione Peroxidase 1 protein in Cell Lysate. Quantitate Human Glutathione Peroxidase 1 with 10 pg/ml sensitivity.
SimpleStep ELISA® technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. See the SimpleStep ELISA® protocol summary in the image section for further details. Our SimpleStep ELISA® technology provides several benefits:
-Single-wash protocol reduces assay time to 90 minutes or less
-High sensitivity, specificity and reproducibility from superior antibodies
-Fully validated in biological samples
-96-wells plate breakable into 12 x 8 wells strips
A 384-well SimpleStep ELISA® microplate (ab315065) is available to use as an alternative to the 96-well microplate provided with SimpleStep ELISA® kits.

Biological function summary
The enzyme guards cellular components by neutralizing free radicals. GPx1 is not part of a large complex but functions as a homotetramer. Its activity is essential for preserving the redox balance within the cell preventing cellular damage from reactive oxygen species (ROS). Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) often measure GPx1 activity to assess oxidative stress levels in research and clinical settings.
Pathways
GPx1 is important in the glutathione metabolism and cellular antioxidant defense pathways. Within these pathways GPx1 works closely with proteins like glutathione reductase to maintain reduced glutathione levels. This interplay with other antioxidant proteins ensures cellular protection against oxidative damage. Studies focus on GPx1's role in these pathways as it underpins many critical cellular processes maintaining cell health.
