Product details
Human ICAM5 ELISA Kit is designed for the quantitative determination of ICAM5 in cell culture supernatants, plasma and serum samples.
This assay employs an antibody specific for human ICAM5 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and ICAM5 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-human ICAM5 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of ICAM5 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Biological function summary
ICAM5 participates in neuron-neuron adhesion processes. It plays a significant role in the development and maintenance of synaptic structures in the nervous system. ICAM5 does not form a complex with other proteins in its functioning. It contributes to the organization and stabilization of dendritic spines which are important for synaptic plasticity and neural communication. This involvement highlights the importance of ICAM5 in neural development and synaptic function.
Pathways
ICAM5 integrates into signaling pathways related to neuronal development and synaptic plasticity. It is a part of the adhesion and cell recognition processes in neural systems. Through its involvement ICAM5 associates with pathways like the glutamatergic synapse pathway. Additionally ICAM5 shows a connection with proteins involved in membrane transport and neuronal signaling such as NMDARs (N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors) emphasizing its role in synaptic modulation.
