Interpolated concentrations of IL-16 in serum of ten individual healthy human female donors were measured in duplicate. Interpolated dilution factor corrected values (to neat sample) are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean IL-16 concentration was determined to be 497.7 pg/mL with a range of 177.9 – 826.4 pg/mL.

Cell supernatants of 48-hour cultures of unstimulated and 1 g/mL PHA-M stimulated PBMC were measured in duplicates. Undiluted samples are unstimulated PBMC supernatant 25%, and stimulated PBMC supernatant 8%. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values (to neat sample) are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). Sample dilutions are made in Sample Diluent NS. No signal was observed in neat cell culture media (RPMI 1640 containing 10% fetal bovine serum).

Human IL-16 ELISA Kit is a single-wash 90-min Simplestep used to quantify Human IL-16 with a sensitivity of 1.899pg/ml. The assay uses a simple mix-wash-read protocol with just one incubation and one wash step.

Interleukin-16 stimulates a migratory response in CD4+ lymphocytes, monocytes, and eosinophils. Primes CD4+ T-cells for IL-2 and IL-15 responsiveness. Also induces T-lymphocyte expression of interleukin 2 receptor. Ligand for CD4.. Isoform 1. May act as a scaffolding protein that anchors ion channels in the membrane.. Isoform 3 is involved in cell cycle progression in T-cells. Appears to be involved in transcriptional regulation of SKP2 and is probably part of a transcriptional repression complex on the core promoter of the SKP2 gene. May act as a scaffold for GABPB1 (the DNA-binding subunit the GABP transcription factor complex) and HDAC3 thus maintaining transcriptional repression and blocking cell cycle progression in resting T-cells.
