Product details

The Human Immunoglobulin J Chain ELISA Kit (ab283987) is designed for detection of Immunoglobulin J (IGJ) in human plasma, serum, and cell culture samples.

This assay employs a quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique that measures human IGJ in approximately 5 hours. A polyclonal antibody specific for human IGJ has been pre-coated onto a 96-well microplate with removable strips. IGJ in standards and samples is sandwiched by the immobilized antibody and a biotinylated polyclonal antibody specific for human IGJ, which is recognized by a streptavidin-peroxidase (SP) conjugate. All unbound material is washed away and a peroxidase enzyme substrate is added. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Target data

Serves to link two monomer units of either IgM or IgA. In the case of IgM, the J chain-joined dimer is a nucleating unit for the IgM pentamer, and in the case of IgA it induces dimers and/or larger polymers. It also helps to bind these immunoglobulins to secretory component.
