Product details
Abcam's anti-Influenza virus A IgA Human in vitro ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is designed for the accurate qualitative measurement of IgA class antibodies against Influenza virus A in Human serum and plasma.
A 96-well plate has been precoated with Influenza virus A antigens to bind cognate antibodies. Controls or test samples are added to the wells and incubated. Following washing, a horseradish peroxidase (HRP) labelled anti-Human IgA conjugate is added to the wells, which binds to the immobilized Influenza virus A-specific antibodies. TMB is then catalyzed by the HRP to produce a blue color product that changes to yellow after adding an acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration is directly proportional to the amount of Influenza virus A IgA sample captured in plate.

Biological function summary
Immunoglobulin A (IgA) plays a critical role in the immune defense mechanisms against mucosal pathogens. It is a part of the mucosal immunological complex and contributes to the first line of defense. IgA is the most abundant type of immunoglobulin present in mucosal areas and assists in neutralizing viruses and preventing infection. It binds to the HA proteins on the viral surface blocking entry into host cells.
Pathways
Influenza virus A IgA is important in the mucosal immune response pathway. It interacts with other components of the immune system such as secretory component/SC and polymeric Ig receptor/pIgR which facilitate the transport of IgA across epithelial cells to mucosal surfaces. These interactions help form barriers against pathogens and participate in pathways like receptor-mediated endocytosis and transport across epithelial barriers.
