Product details
Abcam's anti-Influenza virus B IgG Human in vitro ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is designed for the accurate qualitative measurement of IgG class antibodies against Influenza virus B in Human serum and plasma.
A 96-well plate has been precoated with Influenza virus B antigens to bind cognate antibodies. Controls or test samples are added to the wells and incubated. Following washing, a horseradish peroxidase (HRP) labelled anti-Human IgG conjugate is added to the wells, which binds to the immobilized Influenza virus B-specific antibodies. TMB is then catalyzed by the HRP to produce a blue color product that changes to yellow after adding an acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration is directly proportional to the amount of Influenza virus B IgG sample captured in plate.

Biological function summary
These antibodies are critical for the immune defense mechanism against the Influenza B virus. They are part of the larger immunoglobulin complex which is responsible for identifying and immobilizing pathogens. IgG antibodies against Influenza B target viral surface proteins such as hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA) which are essential for the virus's ability to infect host cells. This action assists in the prevention of the virus entering cells and propagating within the host.
Pathways
IgG antibodies against Influenza B are integral to the adaptive immune response. The antibodies function within the humoral immunity pathway working alongside proteins like B cell receptors and helper T cells to generate a specific response against the virus. This response is important for long-term immune memory and protection against future Influenza B infections. Interactions with proteins involved in the antigen presentation pathway are also noteworthy as they enhance the immune system's ability to target the Influenza B virus effectively.
