Product details

Abcam's Human KLK1 in vitro ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is designed for the accurate quantitative measurement of Human KLK1 in cell culture supernatants, cell lysates, tissue homogenates, serum and plasma (heparin, EDTA).

A KLK1 specific mouse monoclonal antibody has been precoated onto 96-well plates. Standards and test samples are added to the wells and incubated. A biotinylated detection polyclonal antibody from goat specific for KLK1 is then added subsequently and then followed by washing with PBS or TBS buffer. Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex is added and unbound conjugates are washed away with PBS or TBS buffer. TMB is then used to visualize the HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB is catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changes into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration is directly proportional to the Human KLK1 amount of sample captured in plate.

Tissue kallikrein also known as KLK1 is a serine protease enzyme that plays an important role in the cleavage of kininogen to produce kinins. This enzyme with a molecular weight of approximately 30 kDa exists in various tissues like the kidney pancreas and salivary glands. The protein is part of the kallikrein family and is expressed prominently in these areas. You can commonly measure its levels through ELISA assays labeled "kallikrein ELISA" or specific assays like the "kallikrein 3 ELISA."
