Product details
Abcam's NBL1 Human ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human NBL1 in serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants.
This assay employs an antibody specific for Human NBL1 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and NBL1 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human NBL1 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of NBL1 PARN bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.
Optimization may be required with urine samples.

Biological function summary
NBL1 plays an inhibitory role in bone morphogenesis by interacting with BMPs which are part of the TGF-beta superfamily. NBL1 can form complexes with these growth factors thereby regulating processes related to bone and cartilage development. This protein is essential for maintaining cellular processes involved in tissue homeostasis and suppressing unchecked cellular proliferation.
Pathways
NBL1 involves itself in the BMP signaling pathway where it directly impacts the regulation of bone and cartilage development. It is associated with other proteins like Noggin and Chordin both of which also modulate BMP activity highlighting its importance in balancing cell growth and differentiation signals. The involvement of NBL1 in the TGF-beta/BMP pathway is critical for embryonic development and the regulation of body patterning.
