Product details
Human NPTXR ELISA Kit (ab277467) is an in-vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human NPTXR in serum, plasma and cell culture supernatants.
This assay employs an antibody specific for Human NPTXR coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and Human NPTXR present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed, and biotinylated anti-Human NPTXR antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human NPTXR bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Biological function summary
Neuronal pentraxin receptor contributes to synaptic plasticity and maintenance. It forms a complex with other pentraxin proteins like NPTX1 and NPTX2 facilitating the clustering of AMPA receptors at synapses. This interaction enhances excitatory synaptic transmission which is important for processes like learning and memory. NPTXR therefore plays a significant role in maintaining synaptic strength and integrity.
Pathways
The neuronal pentraxin receptor influences the glutamatergic signaling pathway. This pathway involves neurotransmitter glutamate and its receptors which include AMPA-type glutamate receptors at postsynaptic sites. NPTXR's interaction with AMPA receptors via NPTX1 and NPTX2 promotes receptor clustering critical for NMDA receptor phosphorylation. As a result this protein contributes to synaptic plasticity influencing learning and memory pathways in neurons.
