Cell surface receptor for PLXNA2 that plays an important role in cell-cell signaling. Required for normal granule cell migration in the developing cerebellum. Promotes reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton and plays an important role in axon guidance in the developing central nervous system. Can act as repulsive axon guidance cue. Has repulsive action towards migrating granular neurons. May play a role in channeling sympathetic axons into the sympathetic chains and controlling the temporal sequence of sympathetic target innervation. (Microbial infection) Acts as a receptor for P.sordellii toxin TcsL in the in the vascular endothelium.

Human Sema6A ELISA Kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of human Sema6A in serum (human Sema6A concentration is low in normal serum/plasma, and may not be detectable in this assay), plasma (collect plasma using heparin and citrate as an anticoagulant. EDTA is not recommended as anticoagulants for use in this assay) and cell culture supernatants. This assay employs an antibody specific for human Sema6A coated on a 96-well plate.
This ELISA kit shows no cross-reactivity with the following cytokines tested: human Activin RIIA, Biglycan, Carbonic Anhydrase XIII, Carbonic Anhydrase II, CA72-4, CLEC-2, C-myc, Cystatin D, Erythropoietin, FCRL5/FcRH5, FGF-16, GATA-4, GFR alpha-1, GFR alpha-2, Granzyme B, Granzyme H, HIF-1a, htPAPPA, IFNb, IL-17 RC, IL-19, IL-20 R beta, IL-22, ILT4/CD85d, LAIR2, LSECtin/CLEC4G, Netrin-4, Norrin, NRG1a, PD-L2, PDX-1, Podocalyxin, RGM-C/Hemojuvelin, S100A1, SLITRK5, SR-AI, ST6GAL1, Thyroid Peroxidase, Troponin C.
Semaphorin 6A also known as Sema6A is a transmembrane protein that plays a significant role in axon guidance and cell signaling. It has a mass of approximately 95 kDa and is a member of the semaphorin protein family. Sema6A is expressed mainly in the nervous system but also found in other tissues like the heart and kidney. In neuronal cells it interacts with plexin receptors to guide axonal pathways influencing the growth cone dynamics during neural development.
Sema6A plays a role in cellular navigation during neural development. It functions as a signaling cue that aids in cell positioning by influencing the structure and orientation of the cellular cytoskeleton. Although not part of a large protein complex itself Sema6A can interact with plexins to modulate other cellular pathways. The interactions help manage axonal growth and directionality essential for proper neural circuit formation.
Sema6A significantly influences the axon guidance and neural crest cell migration pathways. In these pathways it interacts with proteins such as plexin-A4 which play key roles in transducing semaphorin signals to the cytoskeleton. By guiding axonal direction Sema6A integrates into neural development processes as well as affecting the migration of neurons and their interaction within different tissues.
Sema6A is associated with neurodevelopmental disorders and cancer metastasis. Mutations or dysregulation within Sema6A signaling can contribute to conditions such as autism spectrum disorder where it may affect neural connectivity. In cancer irregular expression of Sema6A might influence tumor progression and metastasis by interacting with plexin receptors changing cell adhesion properties and impacting cell migration.
