Product details

Human SF20 ELISA Kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of human SF20 in serum, plasma (collect plasma using EDTA or Heparin as an anticoagulant. Citrate is not recommended in this assay), and cell culture supernatants. This assay employs an antibody specific for human SF20 coated on a 96-well plate.

Supplementary information

SF20 also known as IL-25 or IL-TIF is a protein involved in cell signaling mechanisms. It has a molecular mass of around 25 kDa. SF20 shows expression in specific tissues such as the small intestine lung and skin suggesting its role in tissue-specific functions. Its expression pattern might suggest potential roles in mucosal immunity and epithelial functions.
Biological function summary

SF20 acts as a member of the IL-17 cytokine family which mediates inflammatory responses. It often forms part of signaling complexes that involve other cytokines to coordinate immune responses. SF20 exerts its influence by binding to a unique receptor complex activating downstream signaling cascades. This interaction is important in mobilizing immune cells to sites of infection or injury highlighting its role in immune system regulation.

Pathways

SF20 is involved in the Th17 cell differentiation and inflammatory response pathways. It plays a role in modulating the activities of STAT3 and NF-kB pathways which are essential in inflammation and immune regulation. SF20 interacts with other proteins such as IL-17A and IL-17F which aid in the amplification of immune signals and inflammation.

SF20 has implications in conditions like asthma and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Its involvement in chronic inflammation links it to these diseases. SF20 can interact with proteins like IL-23 in the context of Th17-mediated inflammatory responses. Targeting SF20 and its signaling pathways presents potential therapeutic opportunities for modulating immune responses in such diseases.

Target data

Bone marrow-derived monocyte and paracrine-acting protein that promotes cardiac myocyte survival and adaptive angiogenesis for cardiac protection and/or repair after myocardial infarction (MI). Stimulates endothelial cell proliferation through a MAPK1/3-, STAT3- and CCND1-mediated signaling pathway. Inhibits cardiac myocyte apoptosis in a PI3K/AKT-dependent signaling pathway (By similarity). Involved in endothelial cell proliferation and angiogenesis (PubMed : 25581518).
