Product details
Human SFRP1 ELISA Kit (ab277468) is an in-vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human SFRP1 in serum, plasma (collect plasma using EDTA and heparin as an anticoagulant. Citrate is not recommended as anticoagulants for use in this assay), and cell culture supernatants.
This assay employs an antibody specific for Human SFRP1 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and Human SFRP1 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed, and biotinylated anti-Human SFRP1 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human SFRP1 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Biological function summary
The secreted glycoprotein SFRP1 plays a role in cellular processes such as cell growth differentiation and apoptosis. As a member of the soluble frizzled-related proteins it acts to inhibit Wnt signaling pathways which are critical in maintaining cellular homeostasis. SFRP1 commonly interacts in the extracellular environment where it forms part of a regulatory complex that includes other extracellular matrix components to achieve its function.
Pathways
The role SFRP1 plays is important in the Wnt signaling pathway and the regulation of β-catenin activity. These pathways are involved in embryonic development and tissue regeneration. SFRP1 directly interacts with other proteins like frizzled receptors and Wnt ligands to maintain balance in signaling. This modulation further influences gene expression patterns and cellular behavior.
