Product details

Human SH3GL3 ELISA Kit (ab284024) is designed for detection of SH3GL3 in human CSF and cell lysate samples. This assay employs a quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique that measures human SH3GL3 in approximately 4 hours.

A polyclonal antibody specific for human SH3GL3 has been pre-coated onto a 96-well microplate with removable strips. SH3GL3 in standards and samples is sandwiched by the immobilized antibody and a biotinylated polyclonal antibody specific for human SH3GL3, which is recognized by a streptavidinperoxidase (SP) conjugate. All unbound material is washed away and a peroxidase enzyme substrate is added. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Supplementary information

SH3GL3 also known as endophilin A3 is a protein with a molecular mass of approximately 40 kDa. It functions mechanically through its SH3 domain which facilitates interaction with proline-rich motifs in other proteins part of various cellular processes. Expressed mainly in the brain and neural tissues SH3GL3 plays significant roles in intracellular signaling and membrane dynamics. Its presence in neuronal tissue suggests an involvement in key neurological processes.
Biological function summary

SH3GL3 interacts with other proteins as part of the endophilin protein family involved in endocytosis and synaptic vesicle recycling. It acts as an adaptor linking intracellular signaling proteins to membrane-bound receptors influencing the way neurons communicate and adapt to changes. SH3GL3 helps regulate the formation and maintenance of synaptic connections ensuring proper neural network function.

Pathways

SH3GL3 participates in the regulation of the endocytosis pathway engaging in vital neuron communication mechanisms. It connects with proteins like dynamin and synaptojanin to modulate vesicle scission and recycling. Through the Ras signaling pathway it further affects synaptic plasticity and cellular responses to external stimuli supporting the adaptability of neural tissues.

SH3GL3 associates with neurological conditions including Alzheimer's disease and schizophrenia. In Alzheimer's altered interactions with proteins like amyloid precursor protein (APP) might disrupt synaptic function contributing to cognitive decline. In schizophrenia modifications in endocytic and signaling pathways involving SH3GL3 and proteins like neuregulin-1 could affect neurotransmission leading to symptoms commonly observed in the disorder.
