Human Slitrk ELISA kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of human Slitrk in serum, plasma and cell culture supernatants. This assay employs an antibody specific for human Slitrk coated on a 96-well plate.
Slitrk1 also known as SLIT and NTRK-like protein 1 is a transmembrane protein with a mass of approximately 95 kDa. It functions mechanically by interacting with neuronal cells to influence axonogenesis and synaptogenesis. Slitrk1 has a role in the nervous system where it is primarily expressed particularly in the brain. Its structure includes leucine-rich repeat (LRR) domains facilitating its interactions with the cellular environment and other molecules.
Slitrk1 influences neural development and synapse formation playing a role in the regulation of synaptic strength. It may interact with the receptor protein tyrosine phosphatase sigma (PTPσ) forming a receptor-ligand pair critical for its function in neural contexts. This interaction contributes to promoting proper neuronal connections and maintaining synaptic plasticity which is essential for cognitive processes.
The role Slitrk1 plays in neural development connects it to the neurotrophic signaling pathway. This pathway influences neuron survival development and function. Slitrk1 is also linked with the semaphorin-plexin signaling pathway which guides axon guidance and neuronal positioning. Proteins like neurotrophin receptor TrkC and plexins may relate to Slitrk1 within these pathways influencing its downstream signaling effects.
Genetic mutations in Slitrk1 have been associated with Tourette syndrome and trichotillomania. These conditions are neurodevelopmental indicating Slitrk1’s importance in the nervous system's proper function. Slitrk1's association with PTPσ in these disorders shows its potential as a therapeutic target as PTPσ's pathway disruption could contribute to the symptoms observed in these disorders.
