May have a role in maintaining the integrity of the blood vessels. Has growth promoting activity on endothelial cells, angiogenic activity in vivo and chemotactic activity on endothelial cells in vitro. Catalyzes the reversible phosphorolysis of thymidine. Interpolated concentration of native Thymidine Phosphorylase was measured in duplicate at different sample concentrations. Undiluted samples are as follows: A-431 cell extract 1.25 ug/mL, HeLa cell extract 6.25 ug/mL, spleen tissue extract 2 ug/mL, and kidney tissue extract 6.25 ug/mL. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). Sample dilutions are made in 1X Cell Extraction Buffer SSW.
