Product details
Abcam's anti-Trichinella spiralis IgG Human in vitro ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is designed for the accurate qualitative measurement of IgG class antibodies against Trichinella spiralis in Human serum and plasma.
A 96-well plate has been precoated with Trichinella spiralis antigens to bind cognate antibodies. Controls or test samples are added to the wells and incubated. Following washing, a horseradish peroxidase (HRP) labelled anti-Human IgG conjugate is added to the wells, which binds to the immobilized Trichinella spiralis-specific antibodies. TMB is then catalyzed by the HRP to produce a blue color product that changes to yellow after adding an acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration is directly proportional to the amount of Trichinella spiralis IgG sample captured in plate.

Biological function summary
The role of Trichinella spiralis IgG involves recognition and neutralization of the parasitic nematodes in the host organism. While not part of a multi-protein complex itself IgG antibodies operate through a network of immune interactions enhancing phagocytosis by macrophages and neutrophils via opsonization. This immune response reduces parasitic loads and assists in containing the spread of infection within tissues such as muscle where the larvae encyst. As with other IgG antibodies they initiate complement activation further promoting parasite elimination.
Pathways
The activity of Trichinella spiralis IgG is integral to both the classical and the alternative complement pathways. This antibody interacts with the complement system proteins such as C1q which start the cascade leading to the formation of the membrane attack complex. The regulation of humoral immune responses involves Fc receptors on various immune cells which recognize the Fc region of IgG. Proteins like C4 and C3 in the complement pathway relate with the functional activities driven by these antibodies facilitating pathogen lysis and clearance.
