Product details

Human Visfatin ELISA Kit is designed for the quantitative determination of Visfatin in cell culture supernatants, plasma and serum samples.

ΔNote: Human Visfatin concentration is low in normal serum/plasma, and may not be detectable in this assay.

This assay employs an antibody specific for human Visfatin coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and Visfatin present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-human Visfatin antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of Visfatin bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

This ELISA kit shows no cross-reactivity with the following cytokines tested: Human Coagulation Factor X, CHMP2B, Contactin-3, Cortactin, CrkL, Cyr61/CCN1, DAPP1, Dynactin Subunit 1/DCTN1, DFF45/ICAD, DRAK1, GRAP2, GRK5, Hydroxyacid Oxidase1/HAO-1, LRIG1, MMP-12, NCK1, Nectin-2/CD112, Nesfatin-1/Nucleobindin-2, Neurogranin, Nrf2, NUDT5, PAR1, Pancreatic Polypeptide/PP, Peroxiredoxin 2, PSMA1, PU.1/Spi-1, RalA, RCOR1/CoREST, Serpin B8, SH2D1A, SHP-1, Siglec-6/CD327, SorCS3, THAP11, ULBP4/RAET1E, UNC5H3, VAMP-1, VAMP-2.

Target data

Catalyzes the condensation of nicotinamide with 5-phosphoribosyl-1-pyrophosphate to yield nicotinamide mononucleotide, an intermediate in the biosynthesis of NAD. It is the rate limiting component in the mammalian NAD biosynthesis pathway. The secreted form behaves both as a cytokine with immunomodulating properties and an adipokine with anti-diabetic properties, it has no enzymatic activity, partly because of lack of activation by ATP, which has a low level in extracellular space and plasma. Plays a role in the modulation of circadian clock function. NAMPT-dependent oscillatory production of NAD regulates oscillation of clock target gene expression by releasing the core clock component : CLOCK-BMAL1 heterodimer from NAD-dependent SIRT1-mediated suppression (By similarity).
