Product details
Monkey Albumin ELISA Kit ab190533 is a sandwich ELISA kit to measure Monkey Albumin in Serum, Plasma, and Urine with a sensitivity of 1.795 ng/mL.
How the assay works
Monkey Albumin ELISA Kit ab190533 uses a pair of antibodies each specific of different epitopes at the target of interest : capture antibody is coated on the surface of the multi-well plate to facilitate the immobilization of the antigen. The other antibody is conjugated and facilitates the detection of the antigen.
Assay Specificity
Our ELISA kits are rigorously validated to ensure the highest level of consistency and reproducibility.
Monkey Albumin ELISA Kit ab190533 protocol summary:
1. Add samples and standards to wells. Incubate at room temperature.
2. Wash each well and add enzyme-antibody conjugate. Incubate at room temperature.
3. Add TMB Solution to each well. Incubate at room temperature.
4. Add Stop Solution to each well. Read immediately.
Albumin (Alb) is a polyfunctional protein contributing to homeostasis through mechanisms of hemodynamics, transport and nutrition. Albumin is found both intra and extravascularly in all mammals and many lower vertebrates. It is a molecule of about 67,000 daltons, synthesized by the liver. Normally only very trace amounts of albumin escape reabsorption by kidney glomeruli and is excreted into the urine. Many occult diseases can cause kidney damage which may result in excessive amounts of serum proteins, including albumin, to be excreted by the kidney and into the urine. This ELISA kit can be used to measure albumin in serum, tissue extracts and other biological fluids.
The calibrator used in this kit is of human origin. It is quantitated with purified Cynomolgus monkey albumin and behaves identically with it.

Biological function summary
Albumin plays a critical role in transporting small molecules like metabolites and drugs through the circulatory system. It is not a part of any complex but functions independently to bind transport and release various ligands. Albumin's affinity for hydrophobic molecules makes it essential for they to be solubilized in blood for proper metabolism and excretion.
Pathways
More than five binding sites on albumin facilitate its role in the fatty acid metabolism and renin-angiotensin system pathways. In fatty acid metabolism albumin interacts with transport proteins carrying fatty acids to tissues for energy production. Additionally during the renin-angiotensin system albumin modulates blood pressure through its interaction with angiotensin II which can influence vasoconstriction.
