How the assay works
An Activin A specific rat monoclonal antibody has been precoated onto 96-well plates. Standards and test samples are added to the wells and incubated. A biotinylated detection polyclonal antibody from goat, specific for Activin A is then added followed by washing with PBS or TBS buffer. Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex is added and unbound conjugates are washed away with PBS or TBS buffer. TMB is then used to visualize the HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB is catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changes into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration is directly proportional to the mouse Activin A amount of sample captured in plate.
Assay Specificity
Our ELISA kits are rigorously validated to ensure the highest level of consistency and reproducibility. Please check the protocol booklet for more details

Biological function summary
Activin A plays a significant role in regulating cell differentiation proliferation and apoptosis. As part of a complex Activin A interacts with specific receptors on cell surfaces initiating intracellular signaling cascades that influence these vital processes. It acts as a growth factor in the reproductive system influencing follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) secretion and is important in embryonic development and wound healing.
Pathways
Activin A participates in pathways such as the TGF-β signaling pathway and the SMAD protein signaling pathway. Within these pathways it interacts with receptor proteins like type I and type II Activin receptors and downstream SMAD proteins. These interactions enable Activin A to regulate gene expression relevant to various cellular functions.
