Interpolated concentration of native Alpha-1-Microglobulin was measured in duplicate at different sample concentrations. Undiluted samples are as follows : 1 : 2,000 serum, 1 : 4,000 plasma (citrate), 1 : 2,000 plasma (EDTA), 1 : 2,000 plasma (heparin), and 1 : 2,000 urine. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values (to neat sample) are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). Sample dilutions are made in Sample Diluent NS.

This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. Biological function summary
A1M functions in the detoxification of free radicals and oxidants offering a protective mechanism against oxidative stress. This protein can form a complex with immunoglobulin A (IgA) highlighting its role in the immune system. By binding to free heme and other radicals A1M aids in maintaining cellular homeostasis and prevents oxidative injury to tissues which is particularly important in dynamic environments like the liver and kidney.

Alpha 1 Microglobulin involves in the oxidative stress response and heme metabolism pathways. Through its heme-binding activity A1M regulates heme catabolism and contributes to cellular protection against oxidative damage. It shows interactions with proteins such as hemoglobin and haptoglobin which are involved in hemoglobin metabolism and transport pathways. These interactions highlight A1M's part in maintaining redox balance and protecting tissues from oxidative insults.
