Vascular endothelium glycoprotein that plays an important role in the regulation of angiogenesis (PubMed:10625534). Required for normal structure and integrity of adult vasculature (By similarity). Regulates the migration of vascular endothelial cells (PubMed:17540773). Required for normal extraembryonic angiogenesis and for embryonic heart development (PubMed:10625534). May regulate endothelial cell shape changes in response to blood flow, which drive vascular remodeling and establishment of normal vascular morphology during angiogenesis (PubMed:28530658). May play a role in the binding of endothelial cells to integrins. Acts as a TGF-beta coreceptor and is involved in the TGF-beta/BMP signaling cascade that ultimately leads to the activation of SMAD transcription factors (PubMed:23300529). Required for GDF2/BMP9 signaling through SMAD1 in endothelial cells and modulates TGFB1 signaling through SMAD3 (By similarity).

Mouse CD105 ELISA Kit (ab240677) is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of CD105 protein in cell culture supernatant, cit plasma, edta plasma, serum, tissue extracts, and urine. It uses our proprietary SimpleStep ELISA® technology. Quantitate Mouse CD105 with 26.1 pg/ml sensitivity.
SimpleStep ELISA® technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. See the SimpleStep ELISA® protocol summary in the image section for further details. Our SimpleStep ELISA® technology provides several benefits:
- Single-wash protocol reduces assay time to 90 minutes or less
- High sensitivity, specificity and reproducibility from superior antibodies
- Fully validated in biological samples
- 96-wells plate breakable into 12 x 8 wells strips
A 384-well SimpleStep ELISA® microplate (Pre-coated 384 well Microplate SimpleStep ELISA® ab203359) is available to use as an alternative to the 96-well microplate provided with SimpleStep ELISA® kits.

CD105 also known as endoglin or the CD105 marker is a transmembrane glycoprotein with a molecular weight of approximately 180 kDa. It is a component of the TGF-beta receptor complex and exists in endothelial cells where it is abundantly expressed. Expression of CD105 is higher in proliferating cells particularly in the vasculature. You can also find it in tissues involved in the formation and remodeling of blood vessels such as during angiogenesis.
Endoglin functions in the regulation of angiogenesis and vascular remodeling. It plays a significant role in mediating cellular responses to TGF-beta signaling influencing endothelial cell proliferation and migration. While not part of a larger structural complex endoglin interacts with receptors and signaling molecules important for vascular development and repair processes. This involvement aids in maintaining endothelial integrity and function under various physiological conditions.
CD105 participates in the TGF-beta signaling and angiogenesis pathways. In these pathways it acts in conjunction with other proteins like TGF-beta receptors which play roles in cell differentiation proliferation and apoptosis. The interaction between CD105 and TGF-beta signaling regulates numerous cellular mechanisms impacting angiogenesis and cellular responses to environmental changes.
CD105 has links to hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) and certain cancers. In HHT mutations in the endoglin gene alter vascular structure leading to the formation of abnormal blood vessels. Oncologically overexpression of CD105 is present in tumor angiogenesis aiding in the progression of certain cancers. Other proteins like VEGF and TGF-beta closely interact with endoglin influencing disease progression and presenting potential targets for therapeutic intervention.

Mouse Endoglin Standard Curve Comparison. Standard Curve comparison between mouse Endoglin SimpleStep ELISA kit and traditional ELISA kit from leading competitor. SimpleStep ELISA kit shows increased sensitivity.
Example of mouse Endoglin standard curve in Sample Diluent NS. The Endoglin standard curve was prepared as described in Section 10. Raw data values are shown in the table. Background-subtracted data values (mean +/- SD) are graphed.
Example of mouse Endoglin standard curve in 1X Cell Extraction Buffer PTR. The Endoglin standard curve was prepared as described in Section 10. Raw data values are shown in the table. Background-subtracted data values (mean +/- SD) are graphed.
Interpolated concentrations of native Endoglin in mouse serum and plasma samples. The concentrations of Endoglin were measured in duplicates, interpolated from the Endoglin standard curves and corrected for sample dilution. Undiluted samples are as follows: serum 12.5%, plasma (citrate) 25%, and plasma (EDTA) 25%. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean Endoglin concentration was determined to be 16.17 ng/mL in neat serum, 10.98 ng/mL in neat plasma (citrate), and 11.89 ng/mL in plasma (EDTA).
Interpolated concentrations of native Endoglin in mouse urine and spleen tissue supernatant (2 days) samples. The concentrations of Endoglin were measured in duplicates, interpolated from the Endoglin standard curves and corrected for sample dilution. Undiluted samples are as follows: urine 50%, and spleen tissue supernatant 50%. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean Endoglin concentration was determined to be 1.22 ng/mL in neat urine and 3.39 ng/mL in neat spleen tissue supernatant.
Interpolated concentrations of native Endoglin in mouse spleen tissue extract based on a 100 μg/mL extract load. The concentrations of Endoglin were measured in duplicate and interpolated from the Endoglin standard curve and corrected for sample dilution. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean Endoglin concentration was determined to be 3.00 ng/mL in mouse spleen tissue extract.
