Product details
Abcam's GAS6 Mouse ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay designed for the quantitative measurement of mouse GAS6 in serum, plasma and cell culture supernatants.
This assay employs an antibody specific for mouse GAS6 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and GAS6 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-mouse GAS6 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of GAS6 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Biological function summary
GAS6 plays an important role in cell survival proliferation and apoptosis. It is part of the TAM receptor complex along with proteins Axl Mer and Tyro3. This complex mediates several physiological functions including immune response modulation and phagocytosis of apoptotic cells. Besides GAS6 influences cell migration and adhesion making it a significant player in tissue homeostasis and repair.
Pathways
The interactions involving GAS6 include the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway and JAK/STAT pathway. In the PI3K/AKT pathway GAS6 promotes cell survival and growth by activating downstream targets in response to extracellular signals. Through the JAK/STAT pathway GAS6 contributes to cytokine signaling and immune function. Its association with the Axl receptor is particularly notable directly influencing these pathways and expanding on their regulatory mechanisms.
