Mouse IL-18 ELISA Kit ab216165 is a rapid single-wash 90-min Sandwich ELISA to measure Mouse IL-18 in cell culture extracts, cell culture supernatant, citrate plasma, EDTA plasma, heparin plasma, serum, tissue extracts. This SimpleStep sensitivity is 10.5 pg/mL.

How the assay works

Mouse IL-18 SimpleStep ELISA®employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. Interleukin-18 (IL-18 or Interferon gamma-inducing factor) is a proinflammatory cytokine in the IL-1 superfamily. IL-18 has overlapping and synergistic biological function with IL-12. IL-18 is found in both intracellular and extracellular compartments. The antibodies in this kit were raised to the mature full-length sequence of mouse IL-18.

Target data

Pro-inflammatory cytokine primarily involved in epithelial barrier repair, polarized T-helper 1 (Th1) cell and natural killer (NK) cell immune responses (PubMed : 26638072, PubMed : 26638073). Upon binding to IL18R1 and IL18RAP, forms a signaling ternary complex which activates NF-kappa-B, triggering synthesis of inflammatory mediators (By similarity). Synergizes with IL12/interleukin-12 to induce IFNG synthesis from T-helper 1 (Th1) cells and natural killer (NK) cells (By similarity). Involved in transduction of inflammation downstream of pyroptosis : its mature form is specifically released in the extracellular milieu by passing through the gasdermin-D (GSDMD) pore (PubMed : 30392956).
