Product details
Abcam's MCP5 Mouse ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of mouse MCP5 in serum, plasma and cell culture supernates.
This assay employs an antibody specific for mouse MCP5 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and MCP5 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-mouse MCP5 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MCP5 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Biological function summary
MCP-5 takes part in promoting the migration of monocytes and lymphocytes to sites of inflammation. This chemokine is not a part of a complex but interacts with specific receptors on target cells such as CCR2. Through these interactions MCP-5 helps mediate a range of immune responses enhancing both innate and adaptive immune activities. It also contributes to the clearance of pathogens by guiding leukocytes to infection sites.
Pathways
MCP-5 plays an important role in the chemokine signaling pathway and the inflammatory response pathway. Through chemokine signaling MCP-5 interacts with CCR2 facilitating the movement of immune cells to areas of tissue damage or infection. This regulation of cell traffic is essential for maintaining homeostasis and responding to pathological changes in tissues. Another protein connected to MCP-5 in these pathways is MCP-3 which shares overlapping functions in immune cell recruitment.
