Sandwich ELISA - Mouse MMP8 ELISA Kit (AB206982)
Interpolated concentrations of MMP8 in mouse serum, plasma (citrate), plasma (heparin) and plasma (EDTA).
The concentrations of MMP8 were measured in duplicate and interpolated from the MMP8 standard curve and corrected for sample dilution. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean MMP8 concentration was determined to be 46.5 ng/mL in mouse serum, 45.2 ng/mL in mouse plasma (Citrate), 36.6 ng/mL in mouse plasma (heparin), and 20.2 ng/mL in mouse plasma (EDTA).

Product details
Mouse MMP8 ELISA Kit (ab206982) is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of MMP8 protein in cell culture supernatant, serum, cit plasma, edta plasma, and hep plasma. It uses our proprietary SimpleStep ELISA® technology. Quantitate Mouse MMP8 with 53 pg/ml sensitivity.
SimpleStep ELISA® technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. See the SimpleStep ELISA® protocol summary in the image section for further details. Our SimpleStep ELISA® technology provides several benefits:
- Single-wash protocol reduces assay time to 90 minutes or less
- High sensitivity, specificity and reproducibility from superior antibodies
- Fully validated in biological samples
- 96-wells plate breakable into 12 x 8 wells strips
A 384-well SimpleStep ELISA® microplate (ab203359) is available to use as an alternative to the 96-well microplate provided with SimpleStep ELISA® kits.
MMP8 is a member of the matrix metalloproteinase family of zinc proteases that degrade extracellular matrix. MMP8 is expressed in neutrophils and is also known as neutrophil collagenase. MMP8 is expressed as a propeptide. This antibodies in this assay were raised to the mature portion of MMP8.

Biological function summary
MMP-8 participates in the degradation of collagen types I II and III contributing to extracellular matrix remodeling. It acts independently rather than being part of a larger enzyme complex. Its activity is tightly regulated by tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) to prevent excessive tissue damage. By modulating the extracellular matrix MMP-8 influences processes like wound healing cell migration and angiogenesis indicating its essential role in maintaining tissue homeostasis.
Pathways
MMP-8 plays a role in the inflammatory response and wound healing pathways. It interacts with and processes other proteins like pro-inflammatory cytokines and growth factors which are important for regulating these pathways. MMP-8 collaborates with matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) in the inflammatory pathway to facilitate leukocyte migration and rapid tissue remodeling during acute inflammatory responses. Its regulation involves complex interactions among proteolytic enzymes emphasizing its function in balancing matrix degradation and formation.
