Sandwich ELISA - Mouse ST6Gal1 ELISA Kit (AB275104)
Interpolated concentrations of native ST6Gal1 in mouse serum and plasma samples.
The concentrations of ST6Gal1 were measured in duplicates, interpolated from the ST6Gal1 standard curves and corrected for sample dilution. Undiluted samples are as follows : serum 50%, plasma (citrate) 25%, plasma (EDTA) 25%, and plasma (heparin) 25%. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean ST6Gal1 concentration was determined to be 5.53 ng/mL in serum, 7.66 ng/mL in plasma (citrate), 5.00 ng/mL in, plasma (EDTA), and 4.15 ng/mL in plasma (heparin).

Product details
Mouse ST6Gal1 ELISA kit (ab275104) is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of Mouse ST6Gal1 protein in serum and plasma. It uses our proprietary SimpleStep ELISA® technology. Quantitate Mouse ST6Gal1 with 27.53 pg/mL sensitivity.
SimpleStep ELISA® technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. See the SimpleStep ELISA® protocol summary in the image section for further details. Our SimpleStep ELISA® technology provides several benefits:
-Single-wash protocol reduces assay time to 90 minutes or less
-High sensitivity, specificity and reproducibility from superior antibodies
-Fully validated in biological samples
-96-wells plate breakable into 12 x 8 wells strips
A 384-well SimpleStep ELISA® microplate (ab203359) is available to use as an alternative to the 96-well microplate provided with SimpleStep ELISA® kits.
ST6GAL1 is a type II membrane protein that catalyzes the transfer of sialic acid from CMP-sialic acid to galactose-containing substrates. The encoded protein, which is normally found in the Golgi but can be proteolytically processed to a soluble form, is involved in the generation of the cell-surface carbohydrate determinants and differentiation antigens HB-6, CDw75, and CD76. This protein is a member of glycosyltransferase family 29. Literature has sited ST6GAL1 is expressed in mouse high endothelial cells of mesenteric lymph nodes and Peyer's patches. This kit recognizes the soluble form of mouse ST6Gal1 protein. Mouse ST6GAL1 shares 95%, 81%, 81%, 76% sequence homology with rat, human, primate, and cow, respectively.

Biological function summary
ST6GAL1 contributes to the mechanics of cell signaling and immune system modulation. ST6GAL1 is involved in the biosynthesis of sialylated glycoconjugates which affect cellular recognition and communication. This enzyme does not form part of a multi-protein complex but interacts with other proteins upon glycosylation events. Through its action ST6GAL1 impacts multiple cellular processes including inflammation regulation and pathogen recognition.
Pathways
ST6GAL1 plays roles in glycosylation and immune response mechanisms. It participates in the N-glycan biosynthesis pathway which influences protein folding and stability. Additionally ST6GAL1 impacts the sialylation pathway where it modifies the surface proteins for lymphocyte activation. Importantly ST6GAL1 interacts with proteins such as Siglecs which are involved in immune response modulation and cellular recognition.
