Product details
Phosphotyrosine FER ELISA Kit (ab279796) is a very rapid, convenient, and sensitive assay kit that can monitor the activation or function of important biological pathways in human cell lysates. By determining phosphorylated FER protein in your experimental model system, you can verify pathway activation in your cell lysates. You can simultaneously measure numerous different cell lysates without spending excess time and effort in performing a Western Blotting analysis.
This Sandwich ELISA kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the measurement of human phospho-FER. An anti-FER antibody has been coated onto a 96-well plate. Samples are pipetted into the wells and FER present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-phosphotyrosine antibody is used to detect only tyrosine-phosphorylated protein. After washing away unbound antibody, HRP-Streptavidin concentrate is pipetted into the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of FER bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Biological function summary
FER acts as a regulator in signaling pathways essential for cellular communication and structure maintenance. FER interacts within cellular complexes modulating the cytoskeleton and intercellular junctions. It influences actin remodeling impacting cell adhesion and motility. FER's involvement in such activities makes it important for maintaining epithelial integrity and cellular response to external stimuli.
Pathways
FER plays a role in the PI3K/Akt pathway and the MAPK/ERK pathway. These pathways are important for cell growth survival and proliferation. FER interacts with other proteins like STAT3 and JAK2 integrating signals that drive these pathways. By modulating key signaling events FER influences cellular functions and responses to environmental changes.
