Product details
Porcine Angiopoietin-1 ELISA Kit (ab273219) is an in-vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of porcine Angiopoietin-1 in serum (porcine Angiopoietin-1 concentration is low in normal serum/plasma, and may not be detectable in this assay), plasma and cell culture supernatants.
This assay employs an antibody specific for porcine Angiopoietin-1 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and Angiopoietin-1 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed, and biotinylated anti-porcine Angiopoietin-1 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of Angiopoietin-1 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Biological function summary
Angiopoietin 1 supports the structural integrity of blood vessels by interacting with the Tie2 receptor as part of a signaling complex. It helps prevent vascular leak and promotes endothelial cell survival migration and adhesion. By playing such roles Angiopoietin 1 is fundamental for maintaining vascular homeostasis and facilitating proper blood flow throughout the body. It also influences the immune response by modulating endothelial functions.
Pathways
Angiopoietin 1's involvement is most notable within the PI3K/AKT pathway and the MAPK pathway which are important for signaling cell survival and growth. These pathways work closely with other proteins such as VEGF (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor) in angiogenesis and vascular remodeling. Angiopoietin 1 interacts with its related pathways to ensure that blood vessels remain functional and adaptive to physiological changes.
