Product details
The Porcine VEGF-A ELISA kit (ab218298) is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the quantitative measurement of Porcine VEGF-A in serum (Porcine VEGF-A concentration is low in normal serum and plasma samples and may not be detectable in this assay), plasma and cell culture supernatants.
This assay employs an antibody specific for VEGF-A coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and VEGF-A present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Porcine VEGF-A antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of VEGF-A bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is Measured at 450 nm.

Biological function summary
VEGF 164 is essential in cellular processes related to vascular growth and blood vessel formation. It is involved in endothelial cell proliferation migration and survival necessary steps for new blood vessel formation. The protein often functions as part of a larger complex that includes co-receptors like neuropilins enhancing its activity and specificity in various tissues. Overall its role is significant in maintaining the structural integrity of the vasculature.
Pathways
VEGF 164 is integrated into angiogenesis and wound healing pathways. It activates several signaling cascades including the PI3K/Akt and MAPK pathways which further involve related proteins like Akt1 and MAPK1. By mediating these pathways VEGF 164 ensures adequate nutrient and oxygen supply to growing tissues or responding to injury.
