Sandwich ELISA - Rat Clusterin ELISA Kit (AB231934)
Interpolated concentrations of native Clusterin in rat tissue supernatant samples.
The concentrations of Clusterin were measured in duplicates, interpolated from the Clusterin standard curves and corrected for sample dilution. Undiluted samples are as follows : liver supernatant 40% and stomach supernatant 12.5%. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean Clusterin concentration was determined to be 102 ng/ml in liver supernatant and 62 ng/mL in stomach supernatant.

Sandwich ELISA - Rat Clusterin ELISA Kit (AB231934)
Serum from five individual healthy rat female donors was measured in duplicate.
Interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean Clusterin concentration was determined to be 172 μg/mL with a range of 155 – 189 μg/mL.

Sandwich ELISA - Rat Clusterin ELISA Kit (AB231934)
Interpolated concentrations of native Clusterin in rat serum and plasma samples.
The concentrations of Clusterin were measured in duplicates, interpolated from the Clusterin standard curves and corrected for sample dilution. Undiluted samples are as follows : serum 1 : 4,000, plasma (citrate) 1 : 4,000, and plasma (heparin) 1 : 4,000. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean Clusterin concentration was determined to be 87 μg/mL in serum, 102 μg/mL in plasma (citrate), and 119 μg/mL in plasma (heparin).

Product details
Rat Clusterin ELISA Kit (ab231934) is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of Clusterin protein in hep plasma, other biological fluids, serum, and cit plasma. It uses our proprietary SimpleStep ELISA® technology. Quantitate Rat Clusterin with 0.63 μg/ml sensitivity.
SimpleStep ELISA® technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. See the SimpleStep ELISA® protocol summary in the image section for further details. Our SimpleStep ELISA® technology provides several benefits:
- Single-wash protocol reduces assay time to 90 minutes or less
- High sensitivity, specificity and reproducibility from superior antibodies
- Fully validated in biological samples
- 96-wells plate breakable into 12 x 8 wells strips
A 384-well SimpleStep ELISA® microplate (ab203359) is available to use as an alternative to the 96-well microplate provided with SimpleStep ELISA® kits.

Biological function summary
Clusterin plays multiple roles particularly in lipid transport apoptosis and cell-cell interactions. It does not form part of a larger protein complex but it acts as a molecular chaperone that helps in folding and clearance of damaged proteins. This capability allows clusterin to protect cells against stress conditions such as oxidative stress by preventing abnormal protein aggregation.
Pathways
Clusterin is involved in pathways related to cell survival and lipid metabolism. It plays a role in the insulin signaling pathway and interacts with proteins like Heat Shock Protein 70 (HSP70) to assist in protein folding and in the activation of apoptotic pathways when needed. Clusterin's function in these processes helps in maintaining cellular homeostasis.
