Interpolated concentrations of spike IL-15 in rat serum, plasma and cell culture media samples.

The concentrations of IL-15 were measured in duplicates, interpolated from the IL-15 standard curves and corrected for sample dilution. Undiluted samples are as follows : serum 12.5%, plasma (citrate) 12.5%, plasma (EDTA) 12.5%, plasma (heparin) 12.5% and cell culture media 12.5%.

Rat IL-15 ELISA kit (ab272199) is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of Rat IL-15 protein in rat serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatant. It uses our proprietary SimpleStep ELISA® technology. Quantitate Rat IL-15 with 322.2 pg/mL sensitivity.

SimpleStep ELISA® technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. See the SimpleStep ELISA® protocol summary in the image section for further details. Our SimpleStep ELISA® technology provides several benefits:

-Single-wash protocol reduces assay time to 90 minutes or less
-High sensitivity, specificity and reproducibility from superior antibodies
-Fully validated in biological samples

A 384-well SimpleStep ELISA® microplate (ab203359) is available to use as an alternative to the 96-well microplate provided with SimpleStep ELISA® kits.

Interleukin (IL)-15 is a proinflammatory cytokine found expressed in a large number of cell types and tissues, and mainly secreted by mononuclear phagocytes. IL-15 acts as a pleiotropic cytokine that plays a vital role in the innate and adaptive immunity. Main function of IL-15 is to stimulate cell activation and proliferation of natural killer cells by signaling through IL-15 receptor and T-lymphocytes by interacting with IL-2 beta and gamma components.

Target data

Cytokine that stimulates the proliferation of T-lymphocytes. Stimulation by IL15 requires interaction of IL15 with components of the IL2 receptor, including IL2RB and probably IL2RG but not IL2RA (By similarity). In neutrophils, stimulates phagocytosis probably by signaling through the IL15 receptor, composed of the subunits IL15RA, IL2RB and IL2RG, which results in kinase SYK activation (By similarity).
