Product details
Abcam's rat Laminin in vitro ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is designed for the accurate quantitative measurement of rat Laminin in cell culture supernatants, serum, cell lysates and plasma (heparin, EDTA).
A Laminin specific mouse monoclonal antibody has been precoated onto 96-well plates. Standards (form rat sarcoma basement membrane) and test samples are added to the wells and incubated. A biotinylated detection polyclonal antibody from goat, specific for Laminin is then added followed by washing with PBS or TBS buffer. Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex is added and unbound conjugates are washed away with PBS or TBS buffer. TMB is then used to visualize the HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB is catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changes into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration is directly proportional to the rat Laminin amount of sample captured in plate.

Biological function summary
Laminin beta 2 is involved in the formation and maintenance of the basement membrane structure contributing to tissue cohesion and cell adhesion. It is part of the laminin-521 complex which involves two other chains that together foster cellular adhesion migration and differentiation. This laminin molecule supports developmental processes by providing signaling cues that influence the behavior of various cell types making it indispensable in organ development and repair.
Pathways
Laminin beta 2 interacts within the integrin signaling pathway where it mediates cell adhesion and communication. It also plays an important role in the basement membrane assembly pathway interacting closely with integrin α3β1. Through these pathways laminin beta 2 maintains cellular organization and stability reflecting its integrative role together with related proteins like nidogen and collagen IV.
