Sandwich ELISA - Rat Resistin ELISA Kit (AB289699)
Interpolated concentrations of rat Resistin in serum, plasma (citrate), plasma (EDTA), and plasma (heparin).
Interpolated concentration of native Resistin was measured in duplicate at different sample concentrations. Undiluted samples are as follows : serum 2%, plasma (citrate) 2%, plasma (EDTA) 2%, and plasma (heparin) 1%. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). Sample dilutions are made in Sample Diluent NS.

Sandwich ELISA - Rat Resistin ELISA Kit (AB289699)
Interpolated concentrations of spiked rat Resistin in cell culture media (10F RPMI).
Recombinant Resistin was spiked into the following rat samples and diluted in a 2-fold dilution series in Sample Diluent NS. Undiluted samples are 100% cell culture media (10F RPMI). The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2).

Product details
Rat Resistin ELISA Kit (ab289699) is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of Rat Resistin in serum, plasma (citrate), plasma (EDTA), plasma (heparin), and cell culture supernatant samples. It uses our proprietary SimpleStep ELISA® technology. Quantitate Rat Resistin with 12.604 pg/ml sensitivity.
SimpleStep ELISA® technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. See the SimpleStep ELISA® protocol summary in the image section for further details. Our SimpleStep ELISA® technology provides several benefits:
-Single-wash protocol reduces assay time to 90 minutes or less
-High sensitivity, specificity and reproducibility from superior antibodies
-Fully validated in biological samples
-96-wells plate breakable into 12 x 8 wells strips
A 384-well SimpleStep ELISA® microplate (ab203359) is available to use as an alternative to the 96-well microplate provided with SimpleStep ELISA® kits.

Biological function summary
Resistin affects glucose homeostasis and has been shown to modulate insulin resistance. It does not function as part of a larger protein complex but instead acts through specific receptors on cell surfaces. Resistin influences several cellular processes including energy balance and the modulation of inflammatory responses.
Pathways
Several processes contribute to the detailed function of resistin. It is involved in the insulin signaling pathway and the inflammatory pathway. Resistin interacts with proteins and receptors like TLR4 which have key roles in inflammatory response signaling and metabolic regulation. These interactions can disrupt insulin signaling and glucose uptake in many cell types.
