Supplementary information

This supplementary information is collated from multiple sources and compiled automatically.

AATK also known as Apoptosis-Associated Tyrosine Kinase functions mechanically as a kinase that contains a domain for kinase activity. It has a molecular mass of approximately 165 kDa. Researchers have found AATK expression across various tissues notably in the nervous system. This wide expression suggests its involvement in critical cellular processes.
Biological function summary

AATK influences the regulation of apoptosis and promotes neurite outgrowth. It does not appear to be part of a larger protein complex. In neurons AATK participates in processes that control cell death and differentiation which indicates its role in neuronal development and function.

Pathways

AATK plays roles in the apoptosis signaling and neuronal differentiation pathways. These pathways integrate signals to guide cellular fate decisions. AATK interacts with proteins like p53 and other kinases that are well-known in regulating cell cycle and apoptotic processes.

AATK has associations with neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's disease as well as some types of cancer. It shares connections with proteins such as tau in Alzheimer's where defective apoptosis and cell signaling contribute to pathological states. Further research into AATK may offer insights into therapeutic strategies for these conditions.
