Biological function summary
The function of adenosine deamination significantly impacts RNA molecules. ADAT3 participates actively in the tRNA editing process. It becomes part of the ADAT complex which also includes ADAT2. This complex catalyzes the deamination of adenosine to inosine at the wobble position of certain tRNAs altering the genetic code potential during translation which contributes to the optimization of protein synthesis.
Pathways
ADAT3 has essential roles in tRNA modification and processing pathways. It impacts the expression and functionality of various genes by adjusting tRNA decoding accuracy. Through its role in RNA editing it relates closely to other RNA-editing ADAR proteins which share some mechanistic similarities. These proteins collaborate influencing broader pathways involving RNA metabolism and gene expression regulation.
