Supplementary information

AGGF1 also known as Angiogenic Factor with G-Patch and FHA Domains 1 is a protein involved in angiogenesis. This protein has a molecular mass of approximately 82 kDa. AGGF1 expresses in a variety of tissues with notable expression in endothelial cells. It functions by promoting blood vessel formation acting as an important player in vascular development and repair processes.
Biological function summary

AGGF1 participates in several cellular processes related to angiogenesis. It does not operate as part of a complex but it interacts with other signaling molecules to regulate endothelial cell proliferation and migration. Its role extends to cellular mechanisms such as apoptosis and cell survival adding to its importance in cardiovascular biology.

Pathways

AGGF1 is essential in the VEGF signaling pathway which is important for blood vessel formation and maintenance. It also influences the PI3K-AKT pathway a significant pathway for cell growth and survival. The interaction with VEGF and regulation of these pathways indicates its cooperation with proteins like VEGFR2 and AKT in mediating angiogenic responses.

AGGF1 plays a role in several cardiovascular diseases including coronary artery disease and small vessel disease. Its involvement in pathologies is linked to its interaction with proteins such as VEGF and to some extent TIE2 both of which are implicated in vascular malformations and cardiovascular dysfunction. Understanding AGGF1's function can aid in developing therapeutic strategies for these conditions.
