What are the advantages of a recombinant monoclonal antibody?
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:

  • - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
  • - Improved sensitivity and specificity
  • - Long-term security of supply
  • - Animal-free batch production

For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.

Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.

Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

Compatibility
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

Supplementary information

The AHSP protein also known as Alpha Hemoglobin Stabilizing Protein plays an important role in the stabilization of alpha-globin chains. This protein has a mass of approximately 11 kDa and is expressed in erythroid cells which are involved in red blood cell development and function. By binding to alpha-globin the AHSP protein assists in preventing harmful aggregation and degradation of these chains which is important in hemoglobin assembly and stability.
Biological function summary

AHSP protein assists in preventing the precipitation of excess free alpha-globin chains within erythroid cells. It acts as a chaperone guiding the proper folding of alpha-globin and facilitating the formation of hemoglobin. This protein does not work alone; it operates as a component of the erythrocytic protein maturation complex working closely with beta-globin during erythropoiesis to ensure effective hemoglobin production.

Pathways

The AHSP protein integrates into cellular processes by playing a role in the hemoglobin synthesis pathway. It is a part of the broader erythroid differentiation pathway and ensures effective erythrocyte maturation and function. AHSP protein is related to HBA1 and HBA2 proteins through these pathways as they are all important components during hemoglobin formation.

Malfunction or reduced expression of the AHSP protein links to various hemoglobinopathies such as beta-thalassemia and alpha-thalassemia. In these conditions imbalances in the globin chains cause abnormal erythrocyte formation and impaired oxygen transport. The AHSP protein connects to HBB and HBA1 proteins when considering these disorders as its stabilizing role influences the equilibrium between alpha- and beta-globin chains important for effective erythrocyte functionality.

Target data

Acts as a chaperone to prevent the harmful aggregation of alpha-hemoglobin during normal erythroid cell development. Specifically protects free alpha-hemoglobin from precipitation. It is predicted to modulate pathological states of alpha-hemoglobin excess such as beta-thalassemia.
