Associates with IL12RB1 to form the interleukin-23 receptor. Binds IL23 and mediates T-cells, NK cells and possibly certain macrophage/myeloid cells stimulation probably through activation of the Jak-Stat signaling cascade. IL23 functions in innate and adaptive immunity and may participate in acute response to infection in peripheral tissues. IL23 may be responsible for autoimmune inflammatory diseases and be important for tumorigenesis.

Immunofluorescent analysis of 4% Paraformaldehyde-fixed, 0.1% TritonX-100 permeabilized 293T (Human embryonic kidney epithelial cell) transfected with myc tagged human IL23R construct cells labelling IL-23R with ab319083 at 1/250 (2.0 ug/ml) dilution (Green).
Confocal image showing cytoplasmic staining in 293T cells transfected with myc tagged human IL23R construct (shown in green). The counterstain was observed in magenta. Nuclear DNA was labelled with DAPI (shown in blue).
Image was taken with a confocal microscope (Leica-Microsystems, TCS SP8).
Myc-Tag Mouse mAb (Alexa Fluor® 647) was used to counterstain tubulin at 1/100 0.38ug/ml dilution (Magenta). The Nuclear counterstain was DAPI (Blue).
Flow cytometric analysis of 2% paraformaldehyde fixed 0.1% Tween-20 permeabilized Isotype (Left) / HEK-293T (Human epithelial cell line from embryonic kidney transformed with large T antigen) transfected with myc-tagged IL-23R expression vector containing a Myc tag (Middle) / 293T cells transfected with an empty vector containing a Myc tag (Right) cells labelling IL-23R with ab319083 at 1/5000 dilution (0.01ug)compared with a Rabbit IgG monoclonal [EPR25A] - Isotype Control (Alexa Fluor® 488) (Alexa Fluor® 488 Rabbit IgG, monoclonal [EPR25A] - Isotype Control ab199091) / Left isotype control and an unlabelled control (cells without incubation with primary antibody) (Blue).
Live cells were surface stained with ab319083, then fixed with 2% PFA followed by intracellular staining with Myc-tag conjugated to Alexa Fluor® 647.
