Transcription factor that plays a central role in developing and mature glia (By similarity). Specifically activates expression of myelin genes, during oligodendrocyte (OL) maturation, such as DUSP15 and MYRF, thereby playing a central role in oligodendrocyte maturation and CNS myelination (By similarity). Once induced, MYRF cooperates with SOX10 to implement the myelination program (By similarity). Transcriptional activator of MITF, acting synergistically with PAX3 (PubMed:21965087). Transcriptional activator of MBP, via binding to the gene promoter (By similarity).

Flow Cytometry analysis of B16-F0 (mouse skin melanoma cell) labeling SOX10 with ab311668 at 1/500 dilution (0.1 μg)/Red. Cells were fixed with 4% Paraformaldehyde and permeabilised with 90% methanol. A Rabbit IgG monoclonal [EPR25A] - Isotype Control (Alexa Fluor® 594) (Alexa Fluor® 594 Rabbit IgG, monoclonal [EPR25A] - Isotype Control ab208568) (Black) is used as isotype control. Unlabelled control: without incubation with primary antibody and secondary antibody (Blue).
Flow Cytometry analysis of HeLa (human cervix adenocarcinoma epithelial cell, Left) / A375 (human malignant melanoma epithelial cell, Right) labeling SOX10 with ab311668 at 1/500 dilution (0.1 μg)/Red. Alexa Fluor® 488 Anti-alpha Tubulin antibody [DM1A] - Microtubule Marker ab195887 at 1/200 (2.5μg/mL) was as counterstain. Nuclear counterstain was DAPI.
