AP1S3 takes part in the vesicle-mediated transport process by participating in the AP-1 complex. This complex is important for the proper functioning of the trans-Golgi network and endosomal pathways. AP1S3 helps in the recruitment of clathrin and cargo selection which impacts vesicle formation. The protein interacts with other AP-1 complex components to ensure specific cargo recognition.
AP1S3 also known as adaptin protein complex 1 sigma 3 is a subunit of the adaptor protein complex 1 (AP-1) which plays a role in the trafficking of proteins within cells. This protein has a mass around 19 kDa. It is expressed in various tissues including the skin and immune cells. AP1S3 is involved in the sorting and packaging of cargo proteins influencing their movement to different cellular compartments.
AP1S3 influences cellular protein trafficking mechanisms such as clathrin-mediated vesicular transport and endocytosis. It connects to the Golgi apparatus and endosomal-lysosomal systems integrating with proteins like clathrin and accessory proteins. These interactions place AP1S3 within pathways important for maintaining cellular protein homeostasis.
AP1S3 associates with conditions such as pustular psoriasis and inflammatory responses. Mutations in AP1S3 disrupt normal cellular trafficking contributing to disease mechanisms. The protein connects to other immunological proteins such as TNF (Tumor Necrosis Factor) which plays a role in inflammation pathways associated with immune-related disorders.
