Product details

ab232035 is the carrier-free version of ab92301.

Patented technology
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.

What are the advantages of a recombinant monoclonal antibody?
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:

  • - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
  • - Improved sensitivity and specificity
  • - Long-term security of supply
  • - Animal-free batch production

For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.

Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.

Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

Compatibility
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

Supplementary information

The APOF protein also known as Apolipoprotein F serves a significant role in lipid metabolism. This protein has a molecular weight of approximately 29 kDa. APOF is expressed mainly in the liver and is found in the blood plasma. It is part of the lipoprotein system where it associates with lipoproteins as it circulates within the bloodstream.
Biological function summary

The APOF protein helps regulate lipid transport and cholesterol ester uptake. It is involved in the modulation of the plasma lipoprotein levels important for maintaining lipid homeostasis. APOF does not work independently but interacts with other lipoproteins in the plasma to regulate lipid transfer processes. Its control over cholesterol homeostasis hints at its involvement in complex lipoprotein metabolic pathways.

Pathways

APOF plays a part in the reverse cholesterol transport pathways. This pathway is essential for the maintenance of cholesterol balance in the body. APOF affects the function of very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL) and is related to other proteins like apolipoprotein A1 which also contribute to cholesterol transport and lipoprotein metabolism.

An imbalance or alteration in APOF levels is linked to hyperlipoproteinemia and cardiovascular diseases. These conditions are associated with cholesterol and triglyceride metabolism where APOF and related proteins like low-density lipoprotein (LDL) play significant roles. The modulation of APOF activity presents a potential target for therapeutic strategies in managing lipid-related disorders.

Target data

Minor apolipoprotein that associates with LDL. Inhibits cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) activity and appears to be an important regulator of cholesterol transport. Also associates to a lesser degree with VLDL, Apo-AI and Apo-AII.
