Biological function summary
ARP1 plays a significant role in cellular processes beyond maintaining structural integrity. It forms part of the dynactin complex which is important for dynein-driven cargo movement along microtubules. This complex includes several other proteins such as p150Glued and dynamitin. By participating in these assemblies ARP1 facilitates vesicular trafficking and is involved in processes like endocytosis and mitosis.
Pathways
ARP1 contributes to vital cellular networks that drive intracellular transport and mitotic spindle orientation. One important pathway where ARP1 acts is the dynein-mediated transport pathway. Within this network ARP1 partners with the protein dynein to facilitate the movement of vesicles and organelles. Another critical pathway is related to mitotic spindle formation where ARP1 influences the positioning and dynamics of the spindle apparatus ensuring accurate chromosome segregation.
