Purified ab178434 at 1/30 dilution (2µg) immunoprecipitating Artemin in PC-12 whole cell lysate.

Lane 2 (+) : ab178434 + PC-12 whole cell lysate.
Lane 3 (-) : Rabbit monoclonal IgG (ab172730) instead of ab178434 in PC-12 whole cell lysate.
VeriBlot for IP Detection Reagent (HRP) (ab131366) (1/1000 dilution) was used for Western blotting.

Biological function summary
Artemin is a significant modulator of neuronal survival and neurite extension. It forms a signaling complex with its receptor components the GDNF family receptor alpha 3 (GFRα3) and the receptor tyrosine kinase (RET). This complex initiates signaling cascades essential for embryonic neuronal development and adult neuroprotection. Artemin selectively activates certain pathways that promote neuronal survival and regenerative responses.
Pathways
Artemin engages with the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/Protein Kinase B (PI3K/AKT) and the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK/ERK) pathways. These pathways are critical for cell survival proliferation and differentiation. Artemin closely associates with other neurotrophic factors such as GDNF within these pathways suggesting a shared or complementary role in neuroprotection.
