BUD31 also known as Bud Site Selection Protein 31 is a component of the spliceosome machinery and plays an important role in RNA splicing. It weighs about 28 kilodaltons. This protein is expressed in various tissues including the brain and the heart. BUD31 is necessary for proper spliceosome assembly and facilitates mRNA processing by aiding in the removal of introns during pre-mRNA splicing.
BUD31 interacts with multiple proteins as part of the spliceosomal complex particularly during the catalytic steps of splicing.
