Biological function summary
ECRG4 participates in multiple cellular functions and takes part in neurogenesis and inflammation processes. The protein is not known to be part of a specific multiprotein complex. Its role extends to modulating cell cycle arrest and apoptosis indicating it has a regulatory function within the cell. Studies show its expression might influence tumor suppression and regeneration in tissue injury.
Pathways
ECRG4 plays a role in both the Wnt and NF-kB signaling pathways. These pathways are essential for cell proliferation and inflammation respectively. In the Wnt pathway ECRG4 can interact with proteins like beta-catenin to influence cell fate decisions. In the NF-kB signaling pathway this protein might modulate the transcription of genes that are part of immune responses and survival mechanisms.
