Product details

ab250854 is the carrier-free version of ab185948.

Patented technology
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.

What are the advantages of a recombinant monoclonal antibody?
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:

  • - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
  • - Improved sensitivity and specificity
  • - Long-term security of supply
  • - Animal-free batch production

For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.

Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.

Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

Compatibility
This product is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm, without the need for antibody preparation. Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.

C7orf42 also known by some researchers as FAM157A is a protein that has a molecular mass of around 33 kDa. It is expressed in several tissues with noticeable levels in the brain testis and skeletal muscle. This expression pattern suggests a role in specific physiological processes. Currently the detailed mechanical function of C7orf42 remains under study but researchers are actively investigating its role to understand its functions.
Biological function summary

C7orf42 may contribute to cellular homeostasis and signaling dynamics. It does not appear to be a part of any major complex but its independent role in the cellular environment warrants further study. Studies suggest C7orf42 could influence functions such as cellular proliferation and differentiation given its expression in rapidly changing environments like the testis and brain indicative of its participation in dynamic cellular processes.

Pathways

C7orf42 interacts with key signaling cascades. It has associations with the Wnt signaling pathway which is important for cell growth and differentiation. C7orf42 is related to proteins like β-catenin in the Wnt pathway suggesting its possible impact on development and cellular communication. It may also have a role in the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway which strongly influences cellular survival and growth hinting at a broader involvement in regulatory networks.

Current research links C7orf42 to certain neurological disorders and metabolic issues. Studies have found correlations with neural development disorders which points to its importance in brain physiology. Its connection with proteins in metabolic pathways also suggests possible implications in metabolic syndrome. Researchers are particularly interested in how it relates to proteins like mTOR a known regulator of cellular metabolism and growth suggesting areas for future investigation.
