Biological function summary
CALML3 regulates various cellular processes involving calcium signaling. It does this without forming a dinstinct multi-protein complex. This regulation influences cell cycle progression and cell differentiation within tissues where CALML3 is present. By modulating calcium-dependent pathways CALML3 contributes to maintaining cellular homeostasis. The calcium binding attribute of CALML3 allows it to modulate enzymes ion channels and other proteins relevant to its locality of expression.
Pathways
CALML3 plays a significant role in calcium signaling pathways influencing various other cellular pathways such as apoptosis. CALML3 interacts with pathways linked to epidermal growth and differentiation. In these processes CALML3 shares functional relationships with proteins such as calmodulin and other calmodulin-like proteins contributing to downstream signaling processes.
